VACATURE: Human rights policy and project officer

The Netherlands Embassy in Amman, Jordan is looking for a full-time Human Rights Policy and Project Officer.
He/she will be responsible for the implementation and administration of the Embassy’s project programmes, in particular those related to Human Rights and Good Governance, and reporting on these issues. The HR Project Officer will be responsible for policy related issues in the field of Human Rights and Good Governance and is expected to coordinate with international partners and in the context of the EU member states accredited to Jordan.The Embassy offers a dynamic work environment in Jordan, devoted team spirit with good interpersonal relations and an informal yet professional atmosphere.
Candidate profile and requirements
The Human Rights Policy and Project Officer has an open and communicative personality with good communication skills, and is willing to do more than is strictly expected. He/she has strong analytical skills, strong verbal and written expression skills, and is good at networking. He/she is a confident and a pro-active team worker, who is used to taking initiative and able to solve immediate problems without assistance of the superior. Furthermore:
- University level education;
- At least 5 years work experience in related social or human rights field;
- Familiarity and affiliation with civil society network in Jordan;
- Knowledge and good understanding of current Human Rights, Good Governance and Rule of Law issues in Jordan;
- Ability to translate theoretical knowledge about Human Rights into a project portfolio that addresses the main Human Rights challenges in Jordan;
- Analytical skills – human rights and politics;
- Good organisational skills, punctual and accurate;
- Social and communicative skills;
- Proven administrative skills and experience with MS Office, Excel and Outlook;
- Affinity with figures and accounting;
- Fluent in English and Arabic;
- Knowledge of and experience with European culture is favourable.
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours a week, flexibility required
Scale: 09
Placement: Initial contract for six months. If successful a 12-month contract will follow
